What you get
What a music video shoot delivers
- The video One finished cut, graded, delivered to spec for the platforms you name.
- Vertical cuts Short vertical edits for the release. Usually the first thing anyone sees.
- Behind the scenes Often thrown in. Often the most-watched thing you get.
Before you book
Five questions worth asking
The answers predict the outcome better than a showreel does.
- Who owns the finished video? Ask this before anything else. Get it in writing, with the term and the territory.
- How is playback handled on set? Miming needs a speaker, a plan and someone running it. Without that you are out of sync in the edit.
- Is there a treatment before we shoot? One page. It is how you find out you disagree cheaply, rather than on the day.
- How many edit rounds? Name the number. Music videos attract opinions from everyone attached to the release.
- Who provides lighting and grip? The look you sent as reference needed lights. Find out if those are in.
